Dog Poop Pickup Day - Join Us!

Please join us for our biannual dog poop pickup day on June 25th from 9:00-1:00 and keep the momentum for clean trails rolling!

Here at the OSU Research Forests, we know what it means to love a trail. For us, it is about more than just enjoying the trail – it’s about taking care of it as best we can. We know our awesome visitors share these values, and that is why we are counting on your help.

Last October, 25 volunteers and two Research Forests staff members collected 231 pounds of dog poop at four major recreation destinations on the McDonald Forest. Their contribution was enormous and made a positive impact on the forest while helping make trails safer and more enjoyable for visitors. Since we began our campaign to raise awareness about the high levels of dog waste on trails, conditions have definitely improved, though the issue remains. We want to continue this positive trend by setting a high standard with perfectly clean trails leading into the busy summer season.   Please consider joining us in this important effort to take care of the trails we all love.

We will provide:

  • Sanitary gloves
  • Trash bags and buckets
  • Shovels and other scooping tools
  • Drinking water
  • Snacks
  • Safety equipment

To RSVP for the pickup day on Saturday, June 25th from 9AM-1PM, register here:

Can’t attend the event but still want to support the trails you love?  Sign up for Forest Connection – a membership-based fundraising program for recreation on the forest – and help us continue to provide dog waste bags and disposal stations at our major trail heads. The donations also contribute to recreation on the forest in a number of other ways. Learn more here: http://cf.forestry.oregonstate.edu/forest-connection
