Fenceline and Ketchup harvests begin on Tuesday, June 3 in the Dunn Forest
Harvest Name: Fenceline & Ketchup
Approximate Closure Duration: 2 months
Size: 43.3 acres (Fenceline); 10.2 (Ketchup)
Prescription: Thinning
Harvest Objectives: This project is designed to promote long term forest health and windfirmness through removal of suppressed and dying trees. Young, relatively dense stands frequently benefit from reduction in the number of trees per acre, and awell-designed thinning operation will reallocate growth to vigorous, dominant and co-dominant trees. In addition, thinning will promote the development of understory vegetation.
Last Harvested: 1994/ Clearcut harvest (Fenceline); 2009/ Precommercial thinning (Ketchup)
Average Tree Age: 31 years old (Fenceline); 37years old (Ketchup)
