Forest Engineer (Professional Faculty)
The Oregon State University Research Forests invites applications for a Forest Engineer. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The Forest Engineer is responsible for performing engineering design, timber harvest engineering analyses, and land surveying tasks on the Research Forests. The Forest Engineer serves as a member of the Research Forests management team and is responsible for engineering in support of the College’s teaching, research and outreach mission.

Forest Management Assistant (Student Position)

Seeking a part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week during academic terms and up to 40 hours per week during academic breaks such as spring and summer) Forest Management Assistant position for the OSU Research Forests

Tasks will include:

  • Harvest Unit Design utilizing lidar, canopy height models, stream classifications, visual aesthetics
  • Harvest Unit layout utilizing tools and skills learned in the classroom
  • Contract administration on Cut-to-Length Thinnings, Variable Retention Harvests, Regeneration Harvests, Restoration Harvests, Pre-commercial thinning, Planting, Herbicide Application and Cultural Resources
  • Log Sale Analysis to identify best value of products with best return to OSU
