The Ram’s Dell Forest was acquired in two donations from Vittz and Elaine Ramsdell. The 147-acre forest is located in the Woodcock Creek drainage, approximately seven miles east of Mollala.
To provide a practical example how family forest owners manage their property in western Oregon showcasing state-of-the-art methods and techniques designed to improve the overall stewardship of land throughout the region. Because there is an extensive amount of laminated root disease (Phellinus weirii) throughout the property, management approaches are designed to reduce the amount of root disease over time. The forest will provide a link between the University and the local community and become a forum for discussion, research and education about natural resource management.
