What is Get Outdoors Day?
The OSU Research Forests, OSU Extension Service, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, and Community Health Centers of Linn and Benton County are hosting the eleventh annual Get Outdoors Day event at Peavy Arboretum.
The event is designed to encourage healthy, active outdoor fun. Participating partners offer a variety of activities to engage visitors and connect youth with the outdoors. The event is bilingual (Spanish and English) and the primary audience are families from Title 1 Schools in Linn and Benton Counties. Help connect kids to all the wonderful benefits of the outdoors!

What do Get Outdoors Day volunteers do?
Volunteers are needed to assist with:
- Welcoming visitors and assisting with event activities
- Traffic and parking
- Set up and take down
- Multi-lingual support for visitors and exhibitors
All Volunteers receive
- Free lunch and event t-shirt
- Orientation and support from event leaders
- A fun day connecting with families in the forest!
I’m under 18, can I still volunteer?
Yes! Youth can absolutely volunteer for Get Outdoors Day. You will just need your parent or guardian to sign your volunteer waiver.
What are the volunteer hours?
Volunteers help from 9am to 3pm. If this shift is too long, please let us know and we will work with you to accomodate your schedule
What do I need to do to sign up?
Step 1: Complete this form (Estimated time: 5 minutes)
Fill out the form with your information to officially sign up to volunteer for Get Outdoors Day! OSU Research Forest staff use this information to coordinate volunteers and plan for food and supplies.
Step 2: Check your email and register with OSU (Estimated time: 10-15 minutes)
After completing Step 1, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a link to register for the GO Day event through the official OSU Volunteer Registration system.
This step includes creating an account, signing volunteer and liability waivers, and uploading a photo of a government-issued ID for a background check.

Step 3: Sit tight
Background check clearance usually takes a few days.
Step 4: Get the green light
You’ll receive an email from Oregon State University confirming you’re cleared to volunteer. If you haven’t yet responded to the Get Outdoors Day 2026 opportunity in the OSU Volunteer Hub, this is your moment!
Step 5: Celebrate
