Emmingham Uneven-Age Research Harvest starting 6/9
Emmingham Uneven-Age Research Harvest starting 6/9
Harvest Name: Emmingham Uneven-aged Research
Approximate Closure Duration: 2 months
Size: 25.1 acres
Prescription: Thin - Individual Tree Selection.
Harvest Objectives: The Emmingham Uneven-aged research project aims to remove small, medium, and some large trees using both singletree and group selection methods. The goal is to remove trees across the entire diameter range and to reduce overall stocking so understory, mid-story, and overstory Douglas-fir trees and other tree species can release and continue to grow well and replace the trees that were harvested. Stocking will be reduced such that natural or planted Douglas-fir seedlings can establish and eventually grow in the mid-story and overstory canopy positions. Uneven-aged structure is maintained by periodic harvest entries every 15-25years to maintain growth and allow for tree regeneration.
Last Harvested: 1991 for uneven-aged management -single-tree selection.
Average Tree Age: 34 – 153 years old
