Research Forests Management Planning Process

In October 2020, Tom DeLuca, dean of the Oregon State University College of Forestry, formed an advisory committee to begin a process that will lead to formal management plans for the Research Forests tracts. The dean tasked the advisory committee to:

  • Create a draft vision, mission, and goals statement that encompasses all of our Research Forests tracts to submit for approval by the dean;
  • Develop and suggest a process to create new management plans for all Research Forests tracts, prioritizing the McDonald and Dunn Research Forests;
  • Consider serving on the McDonald and Dunn forest management planning committee and advise on external stakeholders who can serve on the committee and assist in the efforts. The committee will create a draft forest management plan for approval by the dean.

The advisory committee's work began in January 2021, and monthly meetings will continue until the McDonald and Dunn forest management planning process starts in early 2022. Advisory committee meeting agendas, minutes, and associated documents are below.
